System: ASE 11.9.2.3 on Debian Linux (dual Xeon 2.8Ghz, 3GB
Ram, Scsi Raid 5).
Hi, we have a problem with the dump of one big database. The
total
dump is about 4GB and we make it with a simple "dump
database
@DataBase to @Device". It works great but last time when the
dump
process start take all the server resources and all database
become "offline". There was some way to make the backup with
a
less priority? I have a lot of time and i can wait but the
dump
process have to take less resources.
We try sp_add_resource_limit but the action that it can take
is not good for us(warning,abort,kill).

Thanks!!!

You'll need to provide more details about what happened after you initiated the 'dump database' command.

The entries from the backupserver errorlog, as well as any output displayed at the command prompt would be of assistance.

Also of benefit would be a description as to how you figured out your database was 'offline'?

Also of benefit would a brief description of what you mean by 'take all the server resources'; are you talking about the
dataserver or the Linux server? what resources are you referring to?

One last item, it sounds like this has worked 'ok' before ... have there been any recent changes (eg, configuration,
additional processing, etc.) to the dataserver or the Linux server that could lead to a shortage of system resources?
