Guys,

My Unix team is rebuilding a solaris vxfs mountpoint for my backups.
What is best block size for this filesystem when using "with compression"?

The dump file is created with a data stream that is for all essential
purposes, write only. You're really not going to see much benefit at
all deviating from the standard block size for veritas.

For a database device file, then it is more important as there will
presumably be lots of activity. I would start with either the size of
the logical page or the size of an extent.. then benchmark for i/o
throughput & latency.

If this is on a SAN, then how the 'disk slice' is built is far more
important than the block size :) but I digress
