Hello,
I try to restore a dump made from an ASE12.5.3 AIX server 64bits to a
ASE12.5.3 Windows2003 32bits.
First question, is it supposed to work? according to this
http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1033627 I would say yes but with me, no.
My ASE service and my ASEbackup service are registered with a user account
that has admin right on the windows server and have full access to the
network.
The dump file is on the D drive that is local to the server.

I use the command:
load database database from "D:\dumpfile.cmp"

the response is:
Backup Server session id is: 44. Use this value when executing the
'sp_volchanged' system stored procedure after fulfilling any volume change
request from the Backup Server.
Server Message: Number 402602, Severity 2
Server 'SERVERNAME_BS', Procedure 'bs_read_header', Line 0:
Backup Server: 4.26.2.1: Volume validation error: failed to obtain device
information, device: D:\dumpfile.cmp error: No such file or directory.
Server Message: Number 8009, Severity 16
Server 'SERVERNAME', Line 1:
Error encountered by Backup Server. Please refer to Backup Server messages
for details.

backup.log:
Feb 09 14:18:00 2006: Backup Server: 4.26.2.1: Volume validation error:
failed to obtain device information, device: D:\dumpfile.cmp error: No such
file or directory.
Feb 09 14:26:36 2006: Backup Server: 4.26.2.1: Volume validation error:
failed to obtain device information, device: D:\dumpfile.cmp error: No such
file or directory.

Does anyone have an idea?
Thanks for the help

Hi Wilfrid,

can you verify the name of your dump file really is dumpfile.cmp? I
suspect you wanted dumpfile.dmp
